If you're building a B2B SaaS in 2026 and want continuous customer signal — bug reports, feature requests, friction observations — in-product feedback widgets dramatically increase signal volume + quality vs "email support@" links. The naive approach: support@ link in footer. The structured approach: contextual feedback widget (Slack-style "?" icon, "Suggest a feature" button), screenshot annotation, video reproduction (Loom-like), routing to right team, dedup, follow-up. Done well, customer feedback compounds; done poorly, becomes another inbox-zero burden.

1. Decide widget type

Pick feedback widget type.

Floating button (most common):
- Persistent button bottom-right or bottom-left
- "Help" / "Feedback" / "?" icon
- Click → modal or panel
- Used by: Linear, Intercom, Drift, Fullstory

Inline widget:
- Embedded in pages (settings / specific features)
- "Have feedback on this page?"
- Used by: GitHub for specific features

Per-feature:
- Beta features have feedback box
- Targeted; high signal
- Used by: Notion AI feedback, Linear beta features

Trigger-based:
- Appears on specific events (after task complete, after error)
- Higher response; can be intrusive
- Used by: NPS surveys

Slash command / cmd+K:
- Power-user trigger ("/feedback")
- Used by: Linear, Notion (limited)

Recommended for B2B SaaS:
- Floating button (always visible)
- Per-feature for beta / specific
- Combine with NPS surveys

2. Feedback content types

Different feedback needs different forms.

Design feedback content types.

Categories:

Bug report:

- Optional: screenshot / video / browser
- Auto-attach: console errors, recent actions

Feature request:
- What you want
- Why (use case / problem)
- Optional: vote on existing

Idea / suggestion:
- Open-ended
- Less rigid than feature request

Praise:
- "Love it" / "thanks"
- Lower-priority but morale-boosting

Question:
- Help / how-to
- Route to support / docs

NPS / CSAT:
- Quantitative (0-10 / 1-5)
- Optional comment

Form fields by type:

- Title (auto-suggest from page)
- Description (paragraph)
- Severity (low / medium / high)
- Screenshot (attach)

Feature request:
- Title

Generic:

Auto-context:

Capture automatically:

Do NOT capture:
- Sensitive data (passwords, payment)

- PII beyond what's necessary

The auto-context capture: huge time saver for support team. Without it, "what browser?" / "what page?" back-and-forth wastes hours.
